If you are involved in a certain sport which requires you to strain your body out, you will want to increase the capacity of your lung too. The more air you can breathe in, the higher will be your stamina and endurance. The lung capacity can be increased in two ways – One is by increasing the size of the lungs and the second is by optimizing the amount of air you breathe in. The former is a long-term process while the latter can be achieved with some practice.
Most of us do not breathe to the full capacity of our lungs. If you want to optimize the amount of oxygen your lung can process, you will want to learn to breathe deeply. To do that, start practicing deep breathing regularly. The good news is that deep breathing practice can be done anywhere. Whether you are at work, gym, or home, you can practice it anytime you want. Take a deep breath and exhale it fully. Make sure there is no air left in the lungs so that you can inhale more again.
You can also increase the lung capacity through the meditation techniques. Close your eyes and focus on something. While you do that, inhale the air to the full capacity of your lungs and then exhale it completely. Do this many times during the day.
There are certain physical exercises that can immensely increase the capacity of your lungs. Yoga, swimming, running, and other cardiovascular exercises can enhance the lung capacity. During the exercise, just remain conscious of your breath pattern.
